Nice is twenty minutes from the airport and twenty minutes from Villefranche by sea, which makes it the most forgiving port on the coast to take a boat charter from. You can land at eleven and be swimming by one.

Boats leave from the Port de Nice on the eastern side of the old town, under the Colline du Château. The whole bay opens westward towards the Promenade, and eastward you are into the Cap Ferrat coves within half an hour.

It is also the port that keeps its options open. From here a day can go east to Monaco and Menton, or west towards Antibes and the Lérins, and the decision can wait until you are aboard.
