Cap Ferrat
The villa tour only the sea allows, and a table you arrive at by tender.
Cap Ferrat is the green thumb of land between Villefranche and Beaulieu, and almost all of it is private. From the road you see gates; from the water you see the gardens, the boathouses and the swimming platforms cut into the rock, which is the whole reason to come round it by boat.
The east side holds a string of small anchorages with sand patches you can see the anchor land in. The west side is deeper and quieter. The captain picks the side the wind is not on, which on this cape usually means one is glass while the other is not.
The captain reads the morning and picks the side of the bay the wind is not on. If it is not right on the day, we go somewhere that is.
